Crownworkshop One-Day Experience
The Crownworkshop One- Day Experience consists of a 60- 75 minute experience for classrooms aimed to build self esteem and confidence via discussing crown care, wellness, mental health, personal grooming and taking pride in your natural hair. This is geared to educate all students on the significance of personal grooming, mental health and crafting one's self image.The goal is to teach students to think critically about beauty standards and build a positive self image.
Crownworkshop Two-Day Experience
Two focused 60-75 minute classroom experiences designed to build self-esteem, confidence, and entrepreneurial skills. Students discuss crown care, wellness, mental health, personal grooming, and taking pride in their natural hair. The goal is to educate all students on the importance of personal grooming and self-care, teach basic hair styling techniques, and guide them in creating their own conditioner — all while fostering a positive self-image through a two-part, hands-on entrepreneurial “Shark Tank” simulation experience.
Crownworkshop 6-Week Program
A 6-week training on confidence, wellness, building sisterhood, peer support, self esteem, professionalism, build nervous system resilience personal development and personal grooming for schools. The goal is decolonize beauty standards through building confidence, and skill acquisition via natural hair styling and entrepreneurial education, improved communication competency, self-efficacy and empowerment.
Crownworkshop Extended Program (11-Weeks)
Our in-depth Crownworkshop Extended Program provides comprehensive social and emotional learning that teaches students about wellness, entrepreneurship, and equips students how to think critically and care for themselves on multiple levels. Students learn practical tools to improve their mental health, build confidence and learn how to collaborate effectively via creating and pitching a conditioner product while learning various hair styling techniques: braids, twists, flexi rods, how to detangle, etc. Students also learn how to use hairstyling as a tool for identity and creative expression by collaborating to create hair art project.
Parent Wellness Experience
A wellness educational experience to educate parents on the significance of hair across cultures, the significance of hair across cultures, African grooming practices, equip teachers and parents with the basic knowledge of natural hair care to understand the significance of hair, harmful narrative of colonialism,basic hair care styling education with a wellness component.
Parents learn how to do basic natural hair styling: a basic braid, twist. Parents learn basic tools to connect with their children, destress by activating their vagus nerve to better co-regulate. Parents leave the session empowered on how to care for themselves and improve themselves.
Crownworkshop Teacher Training "Hair Politics in the Workplace"
This is a cultural learning and wellness team building experience around mental health, personal grooming, diversity, equity and inclusion for organizations and schools. Our signature "Hair Politics in the Workplace" is an experience aimed to educate participants on the history of African grooming practices and respectability politics to unlearn harmful narratives of colonialism that influences one's perception and self-image. The ultimate focus is to educate and expose students, educators and leaders to dialogue that cultivates a deeper understanding of how this impacts focus, connection, productivity, performance and interpersonal dynamics via micro aggressions and how to be an ally.
